DHS Investigating Potential Data Breach that Exposed 40,000 DHS and ICE Personnel’s Info!

Potential Exposure
The Department of Homeland Security is investigating a potentially massive data breach that may have exposed identifying and contact information belonging to approximately 40,000 employees and contractors, sources told Fox News.
Sources familiar with the records described the suspected breach as a “catastrophic” security incident. The information reportedly includes names, job titles, locations and, in some cases, phone numbers and email addresses.
ICE and Border Patrol Personnel Affected
The records reportedly cover roughly 10,000 Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel and more than 20,000 Customs and Border Protection employees, including Border Patrol personnel.
Fox News reported that it independently confirmed the leaked records contain the names of several undercover ICE agents working in different parts of the country.
Hacking Group Claims Responsibility

An anti-fascist hacking group calling itself the “Department of Peace” claimed responsibility for obtaining the information. The data leak website Distributed Denial of Secrets said Wednesday that it had released the employee records.
Distributed Denial of Secrets co-founder Emma Best said a public search tool had been developed to access the information, describing its purpose as replacing anonymity with accountability.
The Department of Peace defended the disclosure by arguing that DHS employees possess information about members of the public and said it hoped the records would support efforts to limit what it described as harm by DHS.

DHS Responds
A DHS spokesperson confirmed that the department is aware of a potential breach and is working to address it.
“We take all security threats against our employees and officers seriously and will work to ensure all are properly protected,” the spokesperson told Fox News.
The department said it would provide additional information as it becomes available. The full scope of the suspected breach remains under investigation.

Broader Government Data Security Concerns
The incident follows a separate Pentagon personnel database breach that reportedly exposed sensitive information belonging to more than 2.76 million living military and civilian personnel and approximately 294,000 deceased individuals.
A Pentagon official previously confirmed to Fox News that unauthorized users accessed unencrypted files containing Social Security numbers and employment information between October 2025 and July 2026.
