Attorney General Blanche SLAMS Deface the Nation for Flat-Out Lying About Alaska Election Lawsuit!

BLANCHE CHALLENGES CBS’S FRAMING
Attorney General Todd Blanche forcefully challenged CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, accusing host Margaret Brennan of misleading viewers about the Trump administration’s election lawsuit in Alaska.
Brennan described the case as an effort to block certification if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses. Blanche rejected that framing, arguing that DOJ is addressing potential voter confusion involving another candidate named Daniel J. Sullivan.
“You describe facts that were just simply either, at best, misleading, but really a lie to your viewers,” Blanche said.
“DEFACE THE NATION” FACES A DIRECT REBUKE

Blanche accused Brennan of reducing the dispute to two similarly named candidates while overlooking what he described as concerns about deliberate voter confusion.
According to Blanche, the head of Alaska’s election commission said Daniel J. Sullivan was running specifically to confuse voters and draw support away from the incumbent.
Brennan countered that Alaska’s courts found the claim of deliberate confusion unsupported by a preponderance of the evidence. That conflicting assessment is central to the dispute over whether federal intervention is warranted.

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION DEFENDS ELECTION GUARDRAILS
Blanche presented the administration’s intervention as a proactive effort to preserve ballots and establish a process for examining possible confusion.
He said DOJ had been examining the issue for months and was asking a federal court to consider questions under federal law.
“It’s not saying, ‘Don’t certify,’” Blanche said.
His defense emphasized a clear principle: potential election problems deserve scrutiny before ballots and records become harder to examine.
CONTENTIOUS EXCHANGE OVER TRUMP’S ROLE
Brennan also pressed Blanche about whether President Trump directed the lawsuit. Blanche declined to disclose presidential communications and disputed her characterization before saying he did not know whom Trump was referring to.
The supplied account quotes Trump telling reporters, “I’m the one who said do it.” That statement remains relevant to the question of presidential involvement, alongside Blanche’s explanation that DOJ’s review had been underway for months.

BALLOT DETAILS AT THE CENTER OF THE FIGHT
Alaska advances the top four primary candidates to a general election decided through ranked-choice voting. The incumbent Sullivan will appear with the labels “incumbent” and “Republican,” distinguishing him from Daniel J. Sullivan.
Sullivan’s campaign has said Alaskans can distinguish the candidates through their records and will allow the DOJ challenge to proceed.
BLANCHE REFUSES TO ACCEPT THE PREMISE
Throughout the confrontation, Blanche defended the Trump administration’s right to seek judicial review and repeatedly challenged Brennan’s presentation.
The attorney general’s message was direct: DOJ views the lawsuit as an election safeguard, and he would not allow “Deface the Nation” to present that rationale without a forceful response.
