DHS Secretary Reveals Multiple Raids in Ilhan Omar Probe Revealed “Strong” RICO Case!

· Gent Goldstein

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has revealed that federal investigators executed multiple search warrants on the same day authorities searched Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington, D.C., residence, providing new details about the scope of an investigation into possible immigration fraud.

DHS REVEALS EXPANDED INVESTIGATION INTO OMAR

Speaking Friday on The Charlie Kirk Show with host Andrew Kolvet, Mullin described the investigation as a “strong case” and said federal agents had obtained judicial authorization for the searches. He also indicated that investigators expected to present their findings to a grand jury, signaling that the investigation could advance toward potential criminal proceedings.

“She wasn’t — or it wasn’t the only place we served the warrant,” Mullin said, referring to Omar’s residence. “There was multiple other warrants served on that same day.”

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SAYS INVESTIGATION IS ABOUT ENFORCING THE LAW

Mullin said investigators and President Donald Trump were unwilling to move forward unless they believed the investigation could proceed without being politically driven.

“We wouldn’t move forward, and President Trump didn’t want to move forward either, unless we knew that it couldn’t be politically driven,” Mullin said. “This was about enforcing once again our nation’s laws, and it’s a strong case.”

The investigation is being handled by Homeland Security Investigations and the Justice Department. Trump previously said he was unfamiliar with the details of the probe, telling reporters Monday that he considered Omar “a terrible person” but that the matter was up to the DOJ.

POSSIBLE IMMIGRATION FRAUD AND RICO PROSECUTION UNDER SCRUTINY

The investigation reportedly concerns possible fraud involving immigration documents submitted by Omar’s family decades ago, including paperwork completed by her late father during her childhood.

Multiple relatives of Omar have reportedly received grand jury subpoenas, and sources told CBS News that federal authorities took the congresswoman’s personal cellphone.

During his interview, Mullin discussed whether alleged immigration-document fraud involving multiple individuals could potentially be examined under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, commonly known as RICO. He described a hypothetical scenario involving fraudulent paperwork and a broader scheme that could involve additional people entering the United States.

Mullin suggested that prosecutors could examine whether alleged violations were connected through a larger conspiracy rather than treating each incident as an isolated offense. However, he did not explicitly say that prosecutors were pursuing RICO charges against Omar, nor did he establish that his hypothetical scenario applied to her family.

The legal question surrounding older conduct is also more complicated than Mullin’s remarks suggested. Federal criminal RICO prosecutions generally carry a five-year statute of limitations, although older acts may sometimes be introduced as evidence in a timely prosecution involving an alleged ongoing criminal enterprise or conspiracy. The Supreme Court has also ruled that prosecutors cannot indefinitely extend a conspiracy merely by pointing to a subsequent cover-up.

OMAR DENIES WRONGDOING AND ACCUSES TRUMP OF POLITICAL TARGETING

Omar, a longtime critic of Trump, has rejected the investigation as politically motivated and denied wrongdoing.

“Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement,” Omar wrote on X. She also accused Trump of conducting a yearslong campaign against her and vowed that she “will not be silenced.”

Her accusations place the investigation at the center of a political dispute over federal law enforcement, immigration enforcement and the treatment of a prominent Democratic critic of the president.

However, Omar has not been charged with a crime, and the investigation’s allegations have not been established in court. Federal authorities have not publicly confirmed that they intend to pursue RICO charges against the congresswoman.

GRAND JURY COULD BE THE NEXT MAJOR DEVELOPMENT

A man in a suit passionately speaks while pointing during a discussion or testimony. He has a beard and short hair, and there are blurred figures in the background.

Mullin’s disclosure that investigators obtained judicial approval for multiple search warrants and expect to present their case to a grand jury provides a clearer picture of the investigation’s potential next steps.

The case could examine whether alleged immigration-document violations involved conduct extending beyond a single individual or incident. But the ultimate legal consequences will depend on the evidence investigators develop and the decisions prosecutors make.

For Omar, the investigation represents a significant legal and political challenge as federal authorities examine possible immigration fraud involving her family’s past documentation. For the Trump administration, the case raises questions about immigration enforcement and the government’s ability to investigate suspected violations involving politically prominent individuals.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the next significant development could come when federal investigators present their findings to a grand jury.
